Garrison Waterside Holiday Centre holidays include the use of a "day boat" with each house, giving the visitor the unique opportunity to explore in comfort the stunning river Barrow and Navigation Canal scenery. These small boats have a cuddy (or covered cabin) and steering wheel so make cruising the river a pleasure - whatever your level of experience. Why not take your boat downstream for a leisurely cruise? - if you should decide to enjoy a stroll or a meal down river, we will arrange collection for the boat and to ferry you back by road. ABOUT THE BOATS
Your boat is a newly-built 17' Skellig - a first class boat for a day trip or picnic. The Skellig has a beautifully designed displacement hull with round bilges and lots of beam for extra comfort and safety. The floor is designed so that the keel may be flooded to improve stability and allow the boat to sit lower in the water, giving a more pleasant ride. The cuddy allows you to sit in comfort out of inclement weather The front flips up, allowing you to stand in comfort. Stainless steel safety rails surround the hull.
Full safety features include a cutout attached to the engine. Lifejackets and other safety equipment is supplied for all crewmembers. Ease of use is guaranteed with the key operated electric starter and standard steering wheel - you won't need a midshipman's certificate to sail the Skellig! - even a landlubber will feel at home behind the wheel.
Garrison Waterside from the river If you decide to take to the land, we can collect the boat at the end of your river trip - allowing you to explore nearby historic towns of Graiguenamanagh or Bagenalstown or the peaceful mill and weir at nearby Milford. |
